Social Recovery, Social Inclusion and Community Security in Ukraine During War, Early Recovery and Post-War Recovery

Organizations, embassies, agencies and practitioners-experts working on issues related to mediation, social recovery, social inclusion and community security in Ukraine during war and in early and post-war recovery will meet in Kyiv for an informal Working Group Meeting on Friday May 19th 10:00 – 13:00. The meeting is supported by the Department of Peace Operations and ‘Peace Support Ukraine’ Program to provide a space for Ukrainian and international partners to hold an open exchange and discussion on:

* Assessment of needs and priorities – both ‘immediate’ and foreseeable – relating to social recovery, social cohesion and community security in Ukraine, in particular in heavily impacted and de-occupied areas;

* Current Programming & Identified Priorities, especially in relation to:

o Addressing societal impacts of the war and ongoing invasion of Ukraine

o Addressing impacts of the invasion on youth and youth, peace and security

o Addressing social recovery needs in early recover in de-occupied areas

* Identified current and future needs and priorities that may not yet be being addressed or sufficiently addressed

The informal working meeting will be conducted under Chatham House Rules. A note on key issues identified and recommendations will be circulated to participants and key international donors and partners after.

Participants will also be invited to discuss proposals and plans for:

* Improving coordination and good quality programming amongst agencies and organizations, including donors, working on social recovery programming in Ukraine

* Collaboration on needs assessments and identification including current and future work on: youth programming; early recovery; and related fields

* Upcoming conferences in the summer and autumn of 2023 on Youth programming and priorities and on Social Recovery in Early Recovery Programming in De-Occupied Areas

We invite and ask you to share this invitation further with key organisations, experts, practitioners, and both government, civil society, diplomatic and donor agencies in the field. Our goal is to ensure the meeting is open and inclusive of all key actors and practitioners engaging on these issues.

The meeting will take place in person in Kyiv. A Summary Note will be shared widely.
