We are pleased to unveil the commencement of another collaborative endeavor to support the Ukrainian people affected by the full-scale invasion: the “Joint Initiative across Ukraine and Romania for Social Recovery, Inclusion, and Cohesion of Ukrainian Communities.”
This is a partnership between non-governmental organizations and agencies from Italy, Romania, and #Ukraine, with a transformative goal to foster social inclusion and boost cohesion.
The project has specific objectives aimed at enhancing social cohesion and improving access to education and support for Ukrainian communities. In Ukraine, the project focuses on establishment of dialogue initiative groups in hromadas (communities) operating on the basis of educational institutions (schools), providing psychosocial and mental health support, and increasing knowledge on protection from explosive devices. In Romania, efforts are directed towards ensuring access to primary and mental health services, legal and protection services for Ukrainian refugees, equipping them with essential skills for integration into Romanian society, and fostering mutual trust between Ukrainian refugees and host communities, particularly in Cluj.
The intervention areas encompass several regions in Ukraine including the Oblasts of #Chernihiv, #Mykolayiv, #Kherson, #Dnipro, and #Kharkiv, along with #Cluj-Napoca and surrounding rural areas in Romania. The primary beneficiaries of this project are Ukrainian residents, internally displaced persons, and Ukrainian refugees in Romania.
The anticipated outcomes include the establishment of dialogue initiative groups, improvements in mental health, increased knowledge on protection measures, and enhanced integration into Romanian society for Ukrainian refugees. Beyond addressing immediate needs, the project aims to promote long-term resilience and integration, fostering a sense of community and mutual understanding across borders. Through collaborative efforts, this initiative strives to create lasting positive impacts on the social fabric of both countries.
The implementing partners are: Bukovinian Agency for Initiatives and Development (BAID) from Ukraine, Un Ponte Per (UPP) from Italy, Peace Action, Training and Research Institute of Romania (PATRIR) from Romania, and Інститут миру і порозуміння/Institute for Peace and Common Ground (IPCG) from Ukraine.
The project is implemented with financial support from AICS – The Italian Development Cooperation Agency
