Call for an Immediate End to the Violence in Israel-Palestine, the Release of Abducted Civilians the Release of Abducted Civilians and for Comprehensive Efforts Towards Regional Peace
The Romanian Peace Institute – PATRIR condemns in the strongest terms the violence which has racked Israel-Palestine over the last days. We stand with the millions of people in Israel and Palestine who are exhausted and sick and tired of the endless cycles of violence and recognize the right of all Israelis and Palestinians to live in peace, security and freedom from all forms of occupation and threat and fear of violence.
Now, more than ever, we call for direct, immediate and coordinated actions to stop the violence and support comprehensive efforts towards peace in the region. The development of a comprehensive regional approach to peace in which all actors in the region are involved provides the best possibility for achieving just and lasting peace for all.
For five weeks, the ALLMEP community believed our friend Vivian Silver was living an unimaginable nightmare as a hostage in Gaza. Late on Monday night we learned from Vivian’s family that her nightmare both began and ended on October 7th, when she was murdered in the attacks that devastated the community she had done so much to build at Kibbutz Be’eri. It took this long to identify her remains.
The system must not return to propping up indefinite encampment without political solutions.’

Grant makers are often reluctant to support the risky work of grass-roots groups struggling to build peace in the Middle East and elsewhere. But they need us now more than ever.
Western governments are failing in their responsibility to act in the face of credible accounts of war crimes being committed in the Israeli–Hamas conflict. Calls for a ‘humanitarian pause’ are a distraction and a derogation of humanitarian responsibilities. Only a ceasefire can stop the bloodshed.
