On August 24th, at Baza Sportivă Gheorgheni in Cluj-Napoca, we came together to celebrate Ukraine’s Independence Day 2024. We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us — your presence made this day truly special.
Special thanks to our speakers and organizers:
Emilia Botezan, representing Cluj City Hall, delivered a supportive message on behalf of the mayor, reinforcing the city’s commitment to the Ukrainian community.
Vasyl Ruscovan, President of the Ruscovan Association and CEO of Kapamed International, spoke about the ongoing medical and humanitarian aid provided to Ukraine.
Ksenia Shyriaieva and Alis Costescu from Peace Action Training and Research Institute of Romania (PATRIR) highlighted the efforts of Ukraine House and UA Child Education Hub in supporting Ukrainian refugees.
Valentin Filip and Olena Dobrianska from Fundatia Heks/Eper Romania discussed the Ukraine Response project and the work in integrating and supporting our community.
Anca Beu and Yuliia Skalska from Asociatia Phoneo shared how the Meeting Point project is fostering creativity and offering support to Ukrainians in Cluj.
Melinda Cămârzan and Kateryna Suprun from World Vision Romania spoke about their Happy Bubble initiative, which provides essential services to Ukrainian children and families.
The event also featured a lively concert with Ukrainian hits that brought joy to everyone present, followed by a patriotic flash mob that united the crowd in celebration and solidarity.
A huge thank you to all participants: to Ukrainians and our Romanian friends who stood with us. Together, we showed that no matter where we are, our hearts beat for Ukraine.
A special thank you to the talented Ukrainians who organized the art workshop, yoga sessions, and the toy-knitting master class for children. These activities were a wonderful conclusion to our event, allowing everyone to stretch and move after sitting for a long time, while the children enjoyed some creative fun.
