National Peace Department (NPD)
The National Peace Department (NPD) is one of the three departments of PATRIR. It was established in 2010 from the initial Youth Peacebuilding Center. Its aim is to strengthen the foundations for sustainable peace, democracy and celebration of human dignity and diversity on a national level in Romania. It offers programmes at schools, organizes public awareness campaigns, courses at universities, human rights film nights and public discussions.
Mission
The mission of NPD is to work for a world in which people share the belief that their attitudes and behaviors are decisive in resolving conflicts and waging peace, a world in which they can and do act upon that belief.
Major programme lines
The major programme lines of NPD are:
- participatory democracy and civic engagement
- development education and awareness raising
- promotion of multiculturalism and combating discrimination
