Women Peacemakers Programme – Nineveh, Iraq

The Women Peacemakers Training is a 4-day program organized for women from Nineveh. The programme will go in-depth into women’s participation, engagement and leadership in community- based peacebuilding, mediation and reconciliation processes. Facilitated by Eva Dalak, a world- renowned practitioner and trainer, and supported by UNDP, the Nineveh Provincial Peace Council and the Nineveh Paths project, the programme will:
  • Identify and address key gender dimensions of the conflict and needs in Nineveh
  • Create a space for dedicated female activists, leaders, survivors and community members to strengthen the role of women’s participation, engagement and leadership in social cohesion, peacebuilding, reconciliation and recovery in Nineveh
  • Provide practical knowledge and skills-based training to empower and support participants
  • Identify key initiatives, needs and what can be done to strengthen the role of women in recovery and post-war peace consolidation in Nineveh
  • Share practical case studies and experiences of women involved in community-based peacebuilding, reconciliation and transformative leadership from around the world (relevant to the needs and context in Nineveh).Who Can Apply?The programme is for women from Nineveh, including women currently in Nineveh and women from Nineveh who have been displaced from the fighting. We are looking for women who are committed, dedicated, and engaging or who wish to engage in working on: trauma recovery and healing; community-based peacebuilding; reconciliation; and building a future in Nineveh beyond violence, war and sectarianism. We particularly welcome applications from:
    • Community-based women activists;
    • Youth female activists;
    • women active in community-based civil society organizations / NGOs working on peacebuilding, trauma-recovery and healing, restorative justice, mediation, social cohesion and recovery in Nineveh
    • female journalists, community leaders, and members of Local Authorities or the Nineveh Provincial Council
